At the Corning Cancer Center, we provide comprehensive outpatient oncology care, including treatment delivery, symptom management, patient education, and a range of supportive services.
Our nurses work hand-in-hand with oncologists and a dedicated care team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care ensuring every patient receives the best possible experience. Shifts are typically 8 : 00 a.m.–4 : 30 p.m. or 8 : 30 a.m.–5 : 00 p.m., with minimal weekend coverage approximately four hours every six weeks.
Position Summary
The Oncology nurse provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients and is responsible for delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, and evidence-based quality care. Practicing in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics, and the ANA scope and standards of practice.
Experience
A minimum of two years of practice as a registered nurse in an acute care setting is preferred but not required.
Education
Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited nursing program. A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred but not required. Additional nursing CEU’s are required for cancer centers with Accreditations.
Licenses
1. Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS)
3. Specialty certification Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Certificate required as soon as the RN is eligible. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
4. Specialty training as required by specific units or specialty includes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Essential Functions
Employs Nursing Professional Practice by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patients’ care.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Advocates for patients to promote a safe and quality patient care.
Facilitates learning environment for patients to educate them on disease processes and treatments.

The pay rate for this position is $37.50 - $53.05 per hour.
