Overview
A senior R&D Engineer at Cook Medical is a leader in the department tasked with solving engineering problems, developing new products and processes, and leading engineering or company projects.
Responsibilities
- Interact with physicians for deep clinical understand and research new unmet needs in a clinical area
- Develop new patents, prototypes, equipment, processes, and tools
- Design for usability, manufacturing, regulatory needs
- Select, evaluate and interact with suppliers or expert to select and develop materials and designs for components
- Conduct simulated use testing on prototypes
- Utilize experimental or computational scientific methods to optimize design, processes, and equipment to develop process parameters and design outputs
- Accurately and clearly document verifications validations, design history, risk management, and manufacturing instructions
- Able to collaborate, engage and negotiate with multiple stakeholders for best outcomes
- Able to develop and execute plans in a timely manner
- Must exhibit professional behaviors with all members of the organization
- Must strictly adhere to safety and training requirements

Qualifications
Min 4 year degree in mechanical eng, biomedical eng, industrial design, material science and / or related fields is requiredAnd min 5 yrs in engineering experience or a Master's Degree and at least 3 yrs of engineering experience or a PhD degreeCAD and computational modeling desired but not requiredMintlab and Matlab skills desired but not requiredHands-on fabrication skills desired but not requiredProject management skills desired but not requiredPhysical Requirements :
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodationsGood manual dexterityHybrid position, 1-3 days per week onsite on averageOnsite time spent in a normal office environment requiring sitting and moving around the building, or in a "clean" laboratory or production setting requiring protective clothing and safety glassesUp to 25% of the time is spent in travel to various hospitals, physicians' offices, suppliers and public placesQualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
