Chenango Ambulance Rural EMS in Action VISTA

Rural Health Network SCNY (RHN)'s mission is to advance the health and well-being of rural people and communities. The RHN VISTA program, Rural Health Service Corps, will seek to eliminate poverty in the proposed service areas, and expects to benefit program participants, community members, and host organizations. Ten VISTA members total will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as strategic planning, research, grant writing, training, volunteer management, and coalition building over the course of the next year.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will work directly with Chenango Ambulance Services (CAS), a volunteer ambulance agency serving rural and urban communities in Broome County, NY, to build organizational capacity and increase organizational viability. The VISTA member will expand grant writing and fundraising efforts to upgrade equipment quality and improve financial stability. The VISTA member will conduct community outreach and education events to increase volunteer recruitment and retention as well as improve public awareness of EMS and knowledge of emergency health issues. The VISTA member will also develop strategies for social media management and usage and improve the agency's online presence and digital organization to facilitate public relations.
