The GIS Technical Analyst will work as part of the Range and Training Area Management (RTAM) Team supporting and implementing GIS solutions for Range Safety, Management, and Operations. Responsibilities include developing requirements for new and existing GIS Solutions, providing graphic representations of range-related data, and serving as a technical point of contact to others both internal and external to RTAM. Individual will provide both remote and on-site support for Range related GIS activities throughout the Marine network, including conducting formal and informal training. Travel expectations are 20-25% and may include international destinations.
- Experience Requirements
- Required : GIS Certified
- Desired : Bachelor’s Degree in GIS / Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field of study with 3-5 years of experience using ESRI GIS tools. Expertise with Marine Corps weapons, ranges, and military operations, particularly in the use of the RMTK a plus.
- Familiarity with military range operations and safety procedures a plus.
- Prior Military Service a plus.
Must be able to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
- Job Requirements
- Provide program support for the RTAM Geographical Information Services program at the technical level to include origination, management, interpretation and analysis, as well as design and display.
- Provide support, expertise and training in the use of RMTK tools.
- Conduct GIS analysis at an advanced technical level including the capability to re-orient, re-align, develop and use the GIS-based Range Safety tools within RMTK.
- Understand and provide support of ESRI licensing management and GIS instruction / interface expertise to implement GIS course of instruction and improvements for range use.
- Analyze, design and de-conflict range operations utilizing GPS, GIS and ESRI products at the advanced technical level.
- Develop reports, presentations, charts and spreadsheets in support of RTAM operations incorporating USMC standards as defined within various MCOs and documentation, preparing briefing materials and sound cartographic products.
- Provide development, analysis, program support and training for data collection using GPS and / or various other authoritative sources assessing the quality, accuracy, appropriateness and precision of the data.
