Overview
STATEWIDE GUARDIAN AD LITEM OFFICE, Florida. Hybrid, full-time attorney position with potential remote work after onboarding. Salary : $56,650.08 plus benefits; posting closing date 12 / 01 / 2025. This is a position in the Justice Administrative Commissionfamily and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Represent children in dependency court as part of a multi-disciplinary team including a child welfare professional and (hopefully) a community volunteer or pro bono attorney.
- Provide thorough and accurate information to dependency judges regarding the children under the court's jurisdiction.
- Review case files to identify legal issues, conduct independent investigations of facts, develop legal strategies, file pleadings and motions, and attend court proceedings including hearings, depositions, and mediations.
- Work with Guardian ad Litem staff, witnesses, collateral contacts, and the children represented by the Office.
- Advocate and negotiate for the assigned children inside and outside the courtroom and perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Work under supervision of the Managing Attorney and the Circuit Director.
Qualifications
Admitted to The Florida Bar; ability to advocate effectively in court on behalf of the child.Knowledge of juvenile law, rules of procedure and evidence, and guardian ad litem practice for children.Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations in stressful situations.Proficiency with personal computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).A valid Florida Driver's License.Graduation from an accredited law school; membership in the Florida Bar (consideration for pending admission in some cases).Work Environment & Scheduling
