Job Title :

  • Lead Metrology Engineer Position available in :  Preferred locations : Wichita, KS; Elk Grove Village, IL; Savannah, GA Job Type : Full time Broetje Automation  is the world’s leading expert & OEM in aircraft manufacturing automation and robotics, working with the top names in our industry.

  • Summary :

  • The Lead Metrology Engineer will be responsible for leading the BA-US laser tracking team which operates advanced metrology equipment to support both internal projects and customer requirements.
  • This role will report to BA-US Service Manager.
  • This role will have an 8-16 week training program at our German headquarters followed by 8-16 weeks of additional training at BA-US service locations.
  • This role will require ~50% travel.

  • Hourly Range : $43.00 – $55.00 401(k) company match – 6% match, no vesting period 100% paid healthcare premiums (medical, dental, vision), no cost to the employee Disability plan & group life insurance program 3 weeks Paid Time Off (PTO) 13 Holidays 10 company holidays & 3 flex holidays Tuition reimbursement program $10k / yr International travel opportunities (Germany) Education & Experience : Bachelor’s degree in metrology, mechatronics, electrical, controls, or mechanical engineering, or similar disciplines. 5+ years of experience operating Leica Laser Tracker systems or similar metrology equipmen 5+ years of experience in the industrial automation industry with machine assembly experience. 5+ years machine operation experience, preferably Siemens machines Qualifications : Strong fundamental understanding of electrical design practices, machine / motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, programming, and system integration.
  • Skilled with Spatial Analyzer software and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to recognize and evaluate complex three-dimensional relationships.
  • Advanced understanding of machine tools and precision measurement equipment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of electrical safety guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills & ability to interact with teams, clients, and vendors.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and ability to take initiative.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, ERP applications (SAP).
  • Experience with aerial platforms, working with heights.
  • Willing to travel up to 50% of the year, and active US passport.
  • Desirable Experience (not required) :

  • Siemens Step 7 / TIA Portal PLC programming experience.
  • Familiarity with IEC61131 (PLC programming languages).
  • Understanding of ISO 13849-1 and IEC 62061 safety of machinery standards Knowledge of NC Controllers :

  • Siemens 840D or WINCC Job responsibilities : Operate Leica Laser Tracker AT500 to perform precision measurements of machine components and assemblies.
  • Incorporate measured data into Siemens controller compensation tables.
  • Gather, analyze, and report measurement data using Spatial Analyzer software.
  • Perform machine compensation measurements to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Support customer requests for measurement services and provide technical expertise as needed.
  • Lead in project startup by performing measurement and alignment tasks for internal initiatives Apply knowledge of electronics, electrical circuits, mechanics, pneumatics, and programming.

  • Support quality inspection processes to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve measurement and quality-related issues Maintain proper documentation of measurement activities and results.
