A DAY IN THE LIFE :
A highly skilled senior team member responsible for providing software test engineering and organizational leadership on the Pump Software team. Oversees the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of software systems for the Company's pump software products. Provides thought leadership and technical direction for both current production systems and next generation development. Strong people leadership focus. Works with executive management to determine long term product, skill, and organizational needs.
Provides technical leadership and oversight of the Test architecture, design, planning and execution for the Company's Software test initiatives.
Builds and maintains a high-performance team.
Instills engineering best practices and consistent product development and delivery process.
Provides leadership for Design Controls compliance and maintenance of Design History Files.
Ensures adherence to the Company's QMS processes to balance regulatory and compliance requirements with speed and flexibility of modern, embedded SW development.
Works closely with the regulatory team for the completion of FDA & other global regulatory agency submissions; participates as necessary in response to FDA inquiries.
Responsible for estimating and communicating resource and technical risks that may impact project timelines.
Ensures software development activities align with the priorities set by product owners; responsible for effectively communicating technical concepts to product owners.
Provides technical leadership and oversight to the current Pump Software Test teams with a focus on continuous improvement incorporating best practices.
Coaches and develops team members in the adoption of new skills, processes, and habits.
Provides thought leadership and technical direction for the improvement of functional reliability, quality, and performance of the Company's Pump Software products.
Advocates for and facilitates leveraging AI tools for software test processes.
WHEN & WHERE YOU'LL WORK :
Hybrid : This role will be a mix of in-office work at our corporate headquarters in Del Mar, CA and remote work. This position is expected to be in office 2-3 days per week but may vary depending on business demands.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED :
Comprehensive and expert knowledge of SW Test strategies, methodologies and frameworks for embedded software development.
Extensive experience managing software development that employs CI / CD pipelines for rapid, iterative, releases
Skilled at dividing test feature development into sprint sized, deployable, units.
Experience with formal software test methodologies such as Test-Driven Development (TDD).
Skilled at negotiating with stakeholders or management and influencing senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
Adept at creating and communicating a clear vision among team members effectively aligning resources to achieve functional area goals; skilled at managing multiple projects and delegating to other team members as needed.
Skilled at effectively communicating department or area issues and results within and across functional areas and conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or timelines.
Skilled at effectively leading a cooperative team effort and organizing resources to achieve team goals.
Able to make and prioritize process and resource decisions based on overall team needs.
Able to objectively evaluate situations and make recommendations for changes considering overall project demands.
Ability to facilitate large or small group meetings and manage conflict resolution.
EXTRA AWESOME :
Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field or combination of equivalent education and years of applicable work experience.
Advanced coursework / master's degree in software engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
10 years of experience combining :
Embedded Software Testing including Test-automation
Medical device industry or related area.
Management experience leading an engineering team and technology re-architecture projects.
Product life cycle experience.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS :
The starting base pay range for this position is $245,000 to $295,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus and a robust benefits package.
