• \n\n1) Unit Name : Behavioral Health Float Pool Psych RN.\n2) Brief Unit Description : This position will float to various mental health units throughout the hospital (Pedi, Adult & Geri Psych). \n\n3) Years of Experience Required : 2 years minimum.\n\n4) Skill Sets Required : Trauma informed, patient-centered, and verbally capable of de-escalating patients. We treat patients with diverse types of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis patients detox here on the unit while treating mental health issues), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, wound and diabetic care). Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell); proficient in electronic health records documentation, preferably EPIC; proficient in the use of psychotropic medications and side effects. Able to assume the role of charge nurse. Able to complete admissions and discharges. Competent in the use of IV pumps; competent in care of a diabetic patient.\n\n5) Clinician to Patient Ratio : Unit specific. Pedi Psych is : 1 to 3. Adult & Geri Psych is 1 : 7 or 8.\n\n6) Patient Population : Children Ages 3-17, Adults 18 65, and Geriatric Adults 66+. \n\n7) EMR (Charting System) : EPIC.\n\n8) Floating Required : Yes, to all behavioral health areas within the Epstein Units and AMHU.\n\n9) Rotating Shifts Required : Yes, for Day Rotate (7a-7p, 11a-11p & 7p-7a). Rotation not required for Night Shift. \n10) Certifications Required : Massachusetts RN License. AHA BLS, Certification in De-escalation.\n11) Additional Information : AVADE training offered on-site as well as lead EKG training. Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations.
