Electrical Instructor

Johnson College is currently seeking a part-time Electrical Instructor. The instructor will be responsible for delivering a structured, introductory-level course in basic residential electrical systems to the local correctional facility remotely. This five-session course is designed to provide students with foundational knowledge in electrical theory, safety practices, circuit design, and basic National Electrical Code (NEC) standards. The instructor should have the ability to operate various communication technology resources, such as but not limited to Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and email.

Essential Job Functions :

• Deliver curriculum content as outlined in the Introduction to Electricity course syllabus
• Instruct students on basic electrical theory, safety procedures, tool use, and installation practices
• Guide students through practical wiring exercises, including switch circuits, outlet circuits, and circuit breaker installation
• Teach and enforce safety protocols
• Prepare and maintain instructional materials, tools, and training aids
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and performance
• Submit all required documentation in a timely manner
• Provide constructive feedback to students to support learning and skill development
• Ensure compliance with all institutional policies and correctional facility protocols.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

All candidates must be eligible to work in a correctional facility and may be subject to background screening in accordance with instructional and regulatory policies. A teaching demonstration may be required as part of the selection process.
