Job Description

Under the supervision of the sterile processing supervisor, the technician is responsible for performing various duties related to the basic function of the sterile processing department. Key responsibilities include following hospital policies and procedures, properly cleaning and preparing instrumentation for sterilization, and transporting soiled and sterile instruments to the operating room area. The technician must maintain competency in sterile processing processes and ensure good communication with co-workers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Follow hospital policies and procedures.
• Clean and prepare instrumentation for sterilization.
• Transport soiled and sterile instruments to the operating room area.
• Maintain competency in sterile processing processes.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the SPD Supervisor, charge technician, and / or Director.
