American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Orthopedics assignment requiring a WV or compact RN license and prior ortho experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 33-bed Med / Surg Ortho-Neuro unit with all private rooms in an acute care settingPrimary patient population includes elective orthopedic surgeries such as hips, knees, shoulders, fractures from falls, and neuro-surgeriesNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6Patient Care Techs assist with vitals, ADLs, FSBS, and Foley removal; typically 2-4 PCTs per shift depending on staffing12-hour day shifts, every other weekend requiredEpic charting system experience requiredTravelers are the first to float to other Med / Surg units; floating to Tele with appropriate assignments as neededRemote telemetry monitoring is available as needed, but RNs do not read stripsOrientation includes one day of Epic orientation and one day with a preceptor on the floorCharge nurse present 24 / 7; day charge may take patients if needed and night charge will always have an assignmentExpected to wear royal blue scrubs; jackets must be royal blue scrub jacketsHoliday coverage may be required based on unit staffing needsTravelers must take a 2-year break from WVU Medicine before returning, with a cumulative one-year max assignment durationFirst-year travelers within WVU Medicine are limited to one year of service before a 2-year break is required\n \n Requirements\n
Active WV or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years RN experience, with specific experience in ortho patients and use of PCA pumpsCurrent BLS certification (AHA) requiredEPIC EMR experience requiredMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility (no local travelers)Copy of unexpired driver’s license required for considerationMust disclose any licensing hits at the time of consideration\n Benefits\n
