What You'll Do :
- Analyze, research, and develop structural engineering specifications involving metals, composites, and non-metallic materials for product design and operational systems.
- Conduct damage tolerance, durability, and thermal analysis, supporting the design and maintenance of structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronics systems.
- Utilize software tools such as CATIA, ProEngineer, IDEAS, and other applications to model and analyze structural components.
- Troubleshoot technical issues across assigned systems, providing solutions through technical direction and system modifications.
- Develop and oversee technical documentation related to system design, configuration, and operation standards.
- Support continuous improvement by developing strategic plans for system enhancements and participating in planned maintenance and certification programs.
- Collaborate with system operators, maintenance personnel, and project teams to ensure system performance, reliability, and safety.
- Participate in project design, system testing, and implementation to meet and exceed technical requirements.
Essential Skills & Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with a focus on structural engineering, mechanical, or related fields.Knowledge of structural design involving steel, wood, and concrete; experience with shipyard, nuclear facilities, or naval architecture is a plus.Familiarity with structural analysis tools and software such as CATIA, ProEngineer, IDEA, or equivalent.Strong troubleshooting abilities and experience in technical problem resolution.Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with cross-disciplinary teams.Ability to work safely in a yard environment, wearing PPE including hardhat, safety glasses, and safety toe shoes.Nice to Have Skills & Experience :
Experience with pier or related structural design, damage tolerance analysis, and stability / stress fatigue assessments.Knowledge of piping, mechanical systems, and system testing procedures.Past involvement in shipyard or nuclear facility projects to provide additional context and understanding.Preferred Education & Experience :
Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or related discipline.Structural engineering experience in a shipyard, military, or industrial setting is highly desirable.Proven ability to develop long-term strategies for system improvements and maintenance planning.Other Requirements :
