Job Description :
The Structured Cabling Network Technician will design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot data, voice, and fiber optic networks. The role involves managing network devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting multi-site telecommunications systems.
Responsibilities :
Design network architecture and telecom protocols.
Install and maintain copper (Cat3, Cat5e, Cat6a) and fiber optic cabling.
Troubleshoot and repair network malfunctions and faulty equipment.
Conduct routine system maintenance and prepare technical documentation.
Manage vendor relationships and network support agreements.
Assess and implement new telecommunications technologies.
Requirements :
Knowledge of ISP / OSP copper and fiber connectivity, BICSI standards, and safety protocols.
Experience with single-mode / multi-mode fiber and network testing tools (Fluke Versiv, OTDR, toner).
Familiarity with OSI layers 1-4, TCP / IP, subnetting, MPLS, VoIP, and 5G technologies.
Experience in new construction, renovations, and occupied office environments.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio).
Experience :
Data / telecom system installation and support : 10+ years (highly desired)
Critical multi-site network support : 10+ years (highly desired)
Networking concepts and tools : 5+ years
