Position Summary
The Director of Health Equity Integration will be a member of designated regional and business unit executive leadership teams. The Director will serve as a technical expert and trusted resource for their leadership teams, working alongside them to embed clinical equity best practices and achieve system, regional, and business unit equity priorities. Through their work, the Director will ensure that health equity is successfully and sustainably incorporated into policy, practice, and work culture. The Director will guide their designated business unit and region in achieving goals specific to the experience of clinical equity.
Key Accountabilities
- Participates in the strategic planning process and the cascading of goals. Helps define needs, structures, approaches, and activities / interventions, and identifies resources necessary to support strategy deployment. Ensures vertical and horizontal alignment so that goals are clearly communicated and accountability measures are followed.
- Develops, coaches and mentors teams of clinical and administrative leaders to improve the application of equitable practices for the benefit of patients and communities.
- Engages the Executive Leadership Team and unit / department leaders to support and achieve targeted improvement strategies that drive equitable outcomes.
- Drives regional and business unit progress in scaling, expanding, improving and leading efforts to integrate equity-related drivers which can include access, social, structural and other influencers of health and health outcomes.
- Provides leadership and clear direction to support the equitable provision of care.
- Lead and participate in activities and projects that will promote, improve and enhance the provision of equitable care.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is required. Master Degree such as MPH, MHA, MBA or other related area is preferred.Five plus years of leadership experience.Five plus years of experience within a healthcare setting addressing health disparities, Health Equity promotion, program management & development, quality, safety & population health as is relates to health equity or community partnerships.Current license in good standing to practice in the State of Connecticut (i.e. RN, LCSW, LPN, Pharmacist, etc.).Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification is preferred.Knowledge of regulatory and oversight bodies, and their equity specific applications such as The Joint Commission, CMS, National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is preferred.Demonstrated ability to utilize data driven insights and quality measures to identify disparities to inform business unit priorities for intervention, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and deploy solutions, and monitoring and evaluation of performance.Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement best practice (i.e. PDSA, Root Cause Analysis).Demonstrated understanding of Population Health, and Social Influencers of Health with respect to health equity.Demonstrated relationship-building skills including engaging, persuading, and gaining credibility with senior executives and physicians within complex healthcare organizations.Demonstrated commitment and knowledge of health equity principles as they apply to marginalized communities and health / health care disparities.Demonstrated ability to navigate and succeed within a highly matrixed management and operational structure.Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex data and concepts into user-friendly information that is relevant across disciplines for diverse stakeholders.We take great care of careers.
