Library Assistant - Outreach Coordinator Job at City of Muscatine in Muscatine

Musser Public library is seeking an an energetic and creative individual who thrives on working with all ages and developing unique ways to connect with the community. The ideal candidate will work closely with Library staff and volunteers to create a positive and educational atmosphere for our patrons and will bring a helpful and optimistic attitude to their day-to-day interactions with staff and the public. This is a 28 hour per week position paying $24.89 / hour with some part-time benefits.

Work responsibilities include

• Develops, plans, promotes and implements outreach activities
• Schedules people and resources within outreach services
• Creates and maintains community partnerships with outside agencies and represents the library at public events
• Supervise and manage the Library's Home Delivery Program
• Supervise and manage the Library's Volunteer Program
• Spend 8-10 hours per week at the Children's Desk
• Create and assist with the creation of video content to promote Library services
• Works collaboratively with other members of the library team to generate, plan, and implement programming at the Library and out in the community
• Develop and improve partnerships with area organizations and businesses
• Maintains statistics and prepares usage reports

A bachelor's degree or combination of education and experience that provide expertise in providing literacy education and library programming is necessary. The successful candidate will be able to work a schedule that requires some evenings and weekends, be comfortable with library patrons of all ages and have excellent communication, customer service, and computer skills. Must also have a valid driver's license and ability to deliver books as part of the home delivery program.

A pre-employment physical and drug screen are required post job offer.

Hiring Process
