Business Development Manager - Finance
Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Business Development Manager - Finance. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices. The objective : As Finance Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth by leading strategic business development efforts across the Finance Business Unit. You will collaborate with sector leaders, practice heads, and the broader business development team to identify and activate high-value opportunities, elevate Orrick's brand presence, and drive client engagement through targeted, market-driven initiatives.
What will I do? The Finance Business Development Manager will work closely with partners, associates, and firm-wide teams to execute initiatives that ensure a strategic, sector-focused approach. You will become a trusted advisor, delivering distinctive thought leadership, compelling pitches, and impactful events that support the firm's market leadership in finance.
How will I spend my time? You will spend most of your time on these responsibilities :
Qualifications : Knowledge, Experience and Education
6+ years of marketing or business development experience, preferably in a legal or professional services environment. Experienced in managing core business development responsibilities, including RFP preparation, legal directory submissions, and overseeing collaboration across teams for executing events, conferences, branding, and external communications. Superb judgment and decision-making capabilities with a strategic mindset to guide the organization toward its goals. Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with a high degree of detail and accuracy. Highly skilled in resolving conflicts and handling challenging interpersonal situations with diplomacy, tact, and integrity. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively across a variety of channels. Outstanding ability to analyze complex workstreams, identify and manage project risks, and develop efficient mitigation strategies. Proven focus on developing, implementing, and enforcing strategic processes to streamline operations and enhance productivity. Demonstrated commitment to supporting other team members and ensuring overall team success. Ability to maintain effectiveness and poise under pressure, navigating challenges and setbacks with resilience and agility. High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with (or ability to learn) firm marketing systems; proficiency with generative AI tools a plus. Excellent copywriting and editing skills; strong understanding of digital publishing and other forms of content creation, editing, and dissemination a plus. Anticipates potential challenges and maintains an action-oriented, "can-do" attitude to address them proactively. Four-year college degree or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred.
