We are looking for a skilled Payroll Clerk to join our team in Columbia, South Carolina. This is a long-term contract position offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to payroll operations during a busy and dynamic period. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in payroll processes and demonstrate the ability to manage salary adjustments, timecards, and garnishments effectively.
Responsibilities :
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Manage salary adjustments and merit increases, handling updates with precision.
- Maintain employee payroll records, including data entry and corrections as needed.
- Handle garnishments and deductions in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Review and validate timecards for accuracy prior to payroll submission.
- Support payroll-related transactions, including resolving discrepancies and answering employee inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and internal policies.
- Collaborate with HR and leadership to address payroll-related needs during peak periods.
- Assist in maintaining payroll software systems and making necessary updates.
- Provide general administrative support to the payroll department as required.
- Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably for organizations with 100-500 employees.
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle payroll procedures and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with payroll software systems, such as iSolved, is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage garnishments and deductions with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently during high-demand periods.
- Effective communication skills to address payroll inquiries and collaborate with team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for payroll-related tasks.
- Availability to work on-site and commit to 15-30 hours per week, depending on workload.
