POSITION INFORMATION As a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, success in this position will require the ability to coordinate all aspects of construction management, administration, and inspection services as necessary.
DGL is looking for a well-rounded Senior Construction Engineer to enhance the qualifications of our Construction Management Department.
Reports to Director of Technical Services Full-time, Non-Exempt 4-8 years of previous experience in construction engineering PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include but are not limited to the following :
- Work under supervision of a Project Manager or Senior-level Team Members Serve as Resident Engineer and / or Project Inspector on construction projects Communicate with Department leaders for understanding of project scope Oversee daily inspection of work performed by the contractor Record daily construction activities, quantities, contractor’s equipment and on-site personnel Scheduling and facilitating construction progress meetings Review / approve contractor’s shop drawing submittals Monitor overall project budget and review / approve contractor’s pay requests prior to submitting to owner for payment Review / approve contractor’s change orders Schedule and review material testing and make sure results are per project requirements and specifications Coordinate with other engineers and surveyors on project requirements Provide survey support as necessary Provide civil engineering design and drafting support (Bridge / Site / Roadway / Traffic) as necessary Obtain and maintain safety certifications and client pre-qualifications (ODOT / OTIC) SKILL SET Experience with applicable computer software (Microsoft Office, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Primavera P6 Scheduling, AASHTOWare, GoFormz, etc.) Obtain and maintain ODOT / OTIC construction related pre-qualifications based on agency requirements (Construction Engineer Level 1, Construction Engineer Level 2, Project Inspector, Project Structure Inspector, Coatings Inspector, Traffic & Lighting Inspector) Strong written and verbal communication skills Proven success in delivering high quality project submittals Must be well organized Professional demeanor Ability to communicate effectively with all types of people Valid Driver’s License required with a favorable driver’s record EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering Technology from ABET Accredited Institution ODOT / OTIC construction pre-qualifications are required JOB TYPE Full-time WORK LOCATION In person BENEFITS 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Parental leave Referral program Retirement plan Vision insurance Powered by JazzHR
