Large Generator Rotors
Perform a wide variety of mechanical assembly and disassembly tasks to manufacture new apparatus generator rotors and service existing equipment. Primarily responsibilities involve using induction equipment and industrial ovens to heat components for thermal shrink fit assembly and disassembly.
Install thermal shrink fit components on large generator rotors using ovens and specialized tools. Disassemble thermal shrink fit components by using induction heating equipment, specialty tools, and generator industrial hand tools. Additional hand-skill tasks include prepping rotor shafts for blasting operations, cleaning rotor shafts after blasting and NDE operations, deburring machined parts, and fitting rotor blower blades. Engage in continuous improvement by applying 5S methodology.
What you bring : High school degree or equivalent with 1+ years of experience in manufacturing / industrial / assembly operations. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, charts, and tables. Working knowledge of common industrial hand tools and ability to use precision measuring instruments. Must be able to obtain fork truck and crane license through Siemens Energy internal certification programs. Successful applicants must be able to obtain Silver Level or higher ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate. Successful applicants must be able to pass hearing, vision, and pulmonary tests through Siemens Energy's onsite medical team. Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers. About the team : Our Large Generator Rotor Operations team is responsible for manufacturing large electric generator rotors weighing up to 275 tons. We operate within the Large Generator team to supply new 150
1000 megawatt generators to power plants all over the world. In addition to manufacturing new rotors, we also service generator rotors by providing inspections, rewinds, modernizations, and upgrades. Our Gas Services division offers low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low-emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
