Major Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for supervising facilities maintenance and carpentry activities.
- Supervises and participates in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of all equipment including any electrical, wiring and equipment needs, including all types of lighting, electrical service to equipment, temporary power, pump motors, & ball field lights.
- Supervises workers and inmates.
- Trains new employees and inmates. Performs evaluations of subordinates and inmates.
- Performs inventory control.
- Estimates time and material for work requests.
- Coordinates special events and projects.
- Works on special events and sporting events.
- Assists with HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical procedures as needed.
- Performs maintenance and repair of all city property.
- Performs preventive maintenance on city property.
- Assists other departments with maintenance work.
- Maintains and expands job knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. This position is required to supervise state inmate labor. Employee must pass the Department of Corrections three-day certification within the time frame required by this department which is normally six months but may be altered.

The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
