Position Title : Carpet / Tile / Wallpaper Installer
Reports To : Facility and Maintenance Manager
Supervises : N / A
Summary of Position
The Carpet / Tile / Wallpaper Installer is responsible for installing a variety of floor coverings and wall treatments, including carpet, tile, vinyl, and wallpaper, in both residential and commercial settings. This role involves preparing surfaces, measuring and cutting materials, and ensuring a high-quality, professional installation.

- Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and are subject to change at management’s discretion :
- Inspect and prepare work surfaces (floors and walls) for installation, including cleaning, leveling, or repairing as needed.
- Remove old flooring or wall coverings, ensuring the surface is ready for new materials.
- Apply primers, adhesives, or underlayment’s to prepare surfaces for installation.
- Measure, cut, and install carpet, tile, vinyl, or other types of flooring according to the project specifications.
- Align and lay out tiles or carpet patterns to ensure precision and aesthetically pleasing results.
- Install padding, tack strips, and transitions for carpets, ensuring a smooth and secure installation.
- Grout, seal, and finish tile installations to ensure durability and a professional look.
- Measure and cut wallpaper or wall coverings accurately to fit designated areas.
- Apply wallpaper adhesive and align patterns for seamless application on walls.
- Smooth wallpaper to remove air bubbles, wrinkles, and ensure proper adhesion.
- Trim excess material and ensure clean, precise edges around corners, windows, and doors.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as trowels, stretchers, cutters, and rollers to complete installations.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order, ensuring they are stored safely and appropriately when not in use.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets the client’s specifications and high-quality standards.
- Identify and address any installation issues or imperfections after project completion.
- Ensure that all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Communicate with clients to understand their preferences, specifications, and expectations for the installation.
- Provide accurate time estimates and updates on project progress.
- Address any customer questions or concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
- Clean up work areas after installations, ensuring that debris, dust, and excess materials are removed.
- Leave the finished space in a clean, presentable condition for the client.

2+ years of experience in flooring and / or wallpaper installation, with a strong understanding of various materials and techniques.Previous experience working with carpet, tile, vinyl, laminate, and wallpaper in both residential and commercial environments is preferred.Proficient in measuring, cutting, and installing a variety of flooring and wall covering materials.Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality finishes.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, design plans, and specifications.Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot installation challenges.Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical dexterity.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear. Must be able to use hand held communications devices. The team member must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. The team member must be able to stand for several hours.
