Position Summary

A healthcare organization is seeking a skilled Certified Medical Coder to review clinical documentation and diagnostic reports, ensuring accurate assignment of ICD-9-CM and CPT codes. This role supports compliant billing, reporting, audits, and research activities while maintaining high standards of coding accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

Review medical records and extract relevant data for coding

Assign accurate ICD-9-CM and CPT codes in accordance with official guidelines

Ensure coding compliance with regulatory and organizational standards

Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation when needed

Support audits, quality reporting, and research projects through accurate code assignment

Participate in ongoing education to stay current with industry updates

Qualifications

Experience with ICD-9-CM and CPT coding

Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures

Excellent attention to detail and communication skills

Coding certification preferred (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent)
