Summary
The Inserter Operator is responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of inserting machinery for mailing jobs in preparation for USPS delivery. They follow Standard Operating Procedures, customer requirements, and USPS regulations. Inserter Operators perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
Core Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust and operate all Inserter equipment (high speed and swing arm)
- Set up, adjust and operate accumulating folder.
- Set up, adjust and operate Camera system and maintain 100% match when job specifications require matching pieces.
- Read and interpret written job tickets or other job specifications containing product requirements.
- Complete an Inserter checklist for each job. Secure supervisor sign-off of Inserter image before processing job.
- Maintain a working knowledge of postal sorting, traying, sacking, and palletizing mail procedures.
- Examine product frequently to ensure that it meets customer quality specifications. Checks for proper inserting order, folding specifications, scratches, smearing, proper line layout, OEL, name, address, CSZ and other quality defects.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance as scheduled on assigned machine to ensure its optimum operation.
- Pull and inspect run samples and notify Finishing Manager in the event quality standards are not being met.
- Adjusts conveyor belt to shingle mail pieces neatly and in order.
- Stack containers on a skid and keeps track of total container count.
- Move product around using a pallet jack or power dolly, transfer materials to different locations as needed.
- Complete paperwork and reports related to job function, report any problems to supervisor.
- Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures, making sure work area is hazard free and orderly
- Perform other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
