Job Requirements
The Aubuchon Company, the oldest family-owned hardware retailer in America, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting operations, strengthen financial accuracy, and drive process improvements across a multi-location retail business. This is a high-impact role supporting company-wide decision-making and partnering closely with our Controller and Finance teams.
Location : Hybrid at our Support Center in Westminster, MA
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, and sales tax.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely, accurate GAAP-compliant reporting.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and participate in monthly financial statement reviews.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Support external audits and prepare for internal audit needs.
- Mentor and develop the accounting team-building capability in accounting fundamentals, data analysis, and digital finance tools.
- Improve workflows and reporting through automation and smarter use of technology.
- Explore and apply emerging tools, including AI / ML, to streamline processes and enhance insights.
- Assist with acquisition-related accounting tasks and banking setup.
- Partner with Finance on forecasting and contribute to strategic financial initiatives.
Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's preferred).5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory / managerial role.Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, and account reconciliation processes.Advanced Excel capability (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas).ERP experience required; Microsoft Dynamics GP strongly preferred.Retail or multi-location accounting experience highly desirable.Proven ability to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and drive operational efficiency.Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to manage deadlines.Experience leading teams in a hybrid environment preferred.Benefits
