Responsibilities
- Compiles, consolidates and analyzes actuarial information to produce statements, schedules, filings and reports of a more complex nature.
- May act as a project lead on actuarial studies and pricing strategies.
- Develops and maintains profit studies, reserve studies, and rate files and procedures.
- Develops predictive models using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques and communicates modeling results to business unit management.
- Prepares actuarial portion of financial reports in accordance with GAAP and SAP.
- Provides actuarial analyses, responses and communications to divisional and corporate partners.
- Maintains awareness of emerging issues affecting assigned divisions.
- Provides technical advice to lower-level positions and other functional areas.
- May lead the work of others (mentors, prioritizes, delegates and reviews assignments).
- May handle departmental responsibilities and ownership of actuarial models / methods.
- Advises management on actuarial or mathematical techniques and provides input on policy regarding actuarial standards and appropriate actions.
- Represent the company at industry events or meetings as needed.
- May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may participate in talent decisions for direct reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related discipline.Generally, 7+ years of experience in an actuarial or data role with prior workers compensation experience.Prior experience with medical billing data (ICD-10, MS-ORG, CPT / HCPCS) is preferred.Intermediate development skills in Python / R and advanced knowledge of SQL and Excel.Ability to develop machine learning and / or deep learning approaches to solve clinical and business problems.Ability to perform independent / unsupervised exploratory data analysis and statistical analysis.Demonstrates specialized expertise in pricing, reserving or predictive modeling.Company
