Job description

Site Reliability Manager

As a Site Reliability Manager within PNC's Site Reliability Center (SRC), you will be based in Farmers Branch, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL, Phoenix, AZ. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require weekly time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager's discretion. Occasional travel may be needed. Schedule is M-F 8 : 00am - 5 : 00pm. This position is leading teams across 3 shifts for 24 / 7 support. Candidates are expected to be available for critical production issues as required. This may include off shift hours and weekends. PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position.

Needed Technical Expertise :

  • Deep technical proficiency with VMware infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and related virtualization technologies.
  • Extensive hands-on experience and expert-level proficiency managing Linux (RHEL / CentOS, Ubuntu) and Windows Server operating systems in an enterprise environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of full-stack virtualization architecture, including compute, storage, networking, and security layers.
  • Skilled in performance optimization, capacity management, and scalability planning within virtualized infrastructures.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or similar credentials.
  • Previous experience in regulated banking or financial services industry strongly preferred.
  • Incident & Problem Management :

  • Proven experience in reducing reactive incidents through proactive monitoring, trend analysis, and problem management methodologies.
  • Strong ability to diagnose critical system outages quickly, implementing rapid and effective recovery solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Demonstrated leadership in high-pressure production support environments, ensuring timely resolution and effective root-cause analysis for complex incidents.
  • Operational Leadership :

  • Tenured leadership experience managing technical teams across diverse virtual environment domains (VMware, Linux, Windows).
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop high-performing support engineers, driving team productivity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Adept in managing vendor relationships, including coordinating critical issue escalations and driving vendor support for quick problem resolution.
  • Communication & Collaboration :

  • Exceptional communication skills to clearly articulate technical issues, root causes, and solutions to executive stakeholders, technical teams, and non-technical colleagues.
  • Experienced in collaborating closely with cross-functional teams (storage, database, network, security) to ensure cohesive support across technology stacks.
  • Process Improvement :

  • Track record of driving improvements in operational processes, automation strategies, monitoring tools, and alerting mechanisms to proactively prevent incidents.
  • Experience implementing best-practice frameworks such as ITIL, emphasizing continuous service improvement, proactive monitoring, and knowledge management.

  • Leads a team of Site Reliability Engineers in implementing, maintaining, and improving robust monitoring response sites and infrastructure applications.
  • Recommends and facilitates the implementation of infrastructure enhancements as required to maintain the performance of sites in response to business growth and strategy.
  • Streamlines the deployment process by introducing automated configuration management tools, resulting in a reduction in deployment time and increased efficiency.
  • Oversees robust technical solutions for complex business and application challenges, while helping to define and communicate technical standards and best practices. Manages and oversees proactive reviews and audits of production sites, issue triage and follow up.
  • Leads in the collaboration with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and highly available infrastructure.
  • Maximizes staff contribution through professional growth and development, to increase teamwork and more effectively meet business needs.
