QUALIFICATIONS :

Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Massachusetts

Current CPR / AED certification

1-3 years of experience in pediatrics, community health or other relevant clinical setting

Experience with electronic health records and charting

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

Experience with children with special health care needs including, but not limited to tracheostomies, G-tubes, diabetes, seizures, allergies, asthma, preferred

Bi- or multi-lingual (Portuguese, Spanish) applicants are encouraged to apply

REPORTS TO :

→ Director of Health Services and Building Principal or designee

→ Works under the supervision of the school nurse who reports to the Director of Health Services and building principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

The LPN will support the functions of the school health office(s) and will assist school nurse(s) in :

Assessment, delivery and monitoring of daily student health care with registered nurse delegation, supervision and consultation (including medication and treatment administration)

Providing first aid and emergency care for injuries and illness to the school population

Implementation of student health care plans and emergency care plans under the supervision of the registered nurse

Assist school nurse(s) in mandated health screenings

Assisting students in a variety of settings (health office, classroom, transportation, field trips) for the purpose of providing care based upon student health plans and assessment of student need

Utilization SNAP electronic health record to maintain complete and accurate records of student visits, medications, treatments, screenings, etc.

Maintaining confidentiality

May be assigned to provide 1 : 1 health services as directed in a student's health care plan

May be required to accompany a student on District-provided transportation

May cover health offices in the absence of the school nurse

May travel between school buildings

Other duties as assigned
