Medical Coder : Neurosurgery / Spine

Key Responsibilities

Review and accurately code cases to maximize reimbursement in a timely manner.

Review and accurately code E / M visits and office procedures.

Able to work independently and research coding scenarios.

Maintain a daily production goal and a 95% accuracy rate on a consistent basis.

Attend conference calls as necessary to provide information and / or feedback.

Communicate with leadership on coding or documentation issues / trends.

Stay current on all coding guidelines (including orthopedic-specific guidelines) and maintain credentials as necessary.

Participate in coding department and education meetings.

Flexible to expand coding skill set into other specialties.

Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information.

Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

High school diploma required; associate or BS degree preferred.

Successful completion of at least one AHIMA or AAPC certified program with the achievement of the corresponding professional credential (CCS, CPC, etc.); active and in good standing. CPC or CCS-P certification required. CPC-A not accepted.

Minimum of 3 years physician coding experience (recent production) in professional general surgery coding & procedural coding with expertise in Neurosurgery / Spine.

Salary

Compensation : $27.00‑$34.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
