JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours : 40

Summary of the Job :

Housekeepers maintain environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures of the hospital. This position performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, waiting areas, public restrooms, clinical areas, and other assigned areas of the hospital and various offsite locations. The position distributes and tracks clean linens to user departments and maintains stock levels on units. The position follows standard practices and procedures and complies with regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications :

Basic math skills and the ability to follow instructions. St. Tammany Parish Hospital housekeeping will provide on-the-job training, which includes effective cleaning techniques, choosing the correct cleaning agents, operating vacuums, adhering to health and safety regulations, and demonstrating good customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Demands :

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 99 pounds is required.

Frequently (34%-66%)- NONE

Occasionally (1%-33%)- lifting, carrying, pushing / pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling / feeling, talking
