Job Description Summary : The Equipment Specialist (ES) reports directly to the Department Shift Coach and is responsible for performing routine setup, daily maintenance, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment via manual or semi-automated means. The ES controls and adjusts machine settings, inspects in-process parts to ensure consistent quality and removes defective product, packaging, and component material. The ES assists with root-cause analysis activities for process or product exceptions and identifies / escalates any issues related to machine performance and / or product quality.

Day Shift : 12 hour rotating shift
Job Summary
As an Equipment Specialist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining machines / equipment used in the production of medical devices. Your primary role will be to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the equipment to meet production targets and maintain product quality. You participate in all team meetings, activities, team-building initiatives, and operational excellence activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates multiple processes on or around high speed automated or semi-automated manufacturing equipment.Participates in equipment changeovers or set-ups.Monitors assigned processes to ensure high quality production.Responds to machine faults and restores to normal operation.Participates in autonomous maintenance to maintain assigned equipment / area.Drives to meet or exceed all expected line / zone performance.Removes defective product from the automated or semi-automated processes.Maintains accurate records and documents as required.Continuously improves through the Kaizen Action Sheet (KAS) program.Produces high quality products manufactured per task documents.Maintains a clean area by performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down equipment.Maintains open communication to ensure problems / changes are communicated and resolved in a timely manner.Participates in root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues as needed.Participates in tier 1 shifts' start-up meetings, 5S, and Kaizen events.Supports and maintains a safe working environment including submission of employee safety observations (ESO).Willingness to rotate into different tasks and responsibilities as needed.Ability to train other associates as needed.Ability to identify production issues and clearly communicate to support functions.Complies with all local, state, federal, and BD safety & quality regulations, policies, procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.Qualifications
Required : High School Diploma / GED or 1 year consecutive work experiencePreferred : 2 years on-the-job experienceSkills : Must be able to read & write in English, communicate verbally, work in a team, recognize deviations from specification, operate independently within approved process documentation, analyze / evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams, perform basic arithmetic, basic PC Windows skillsWork Environment & Physical Functions
This position is in a clean room or laboratory manufacturing environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Required to stand and / or occasionally sit for extended periods. Tasks may include bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, climbing, balancing, pushing / pulling, repetitive motions, and lifting up to 20 pounds (occasional up to 30 pounds, frequent lift up to 10 lbs, carry up to 5 lbs). May be exposed to loud equipment, temperature fluctuations, fumes, and chemicals. Must be willing to wear required PPE (safety glasses, mask / shield, hearing protection, safety shoes, hair / beard net, smock).Normal field of vision to 20 / 40 in each eye and hearing sufficient to safely operate material handling equipment.BD prioritizes on-site collaboration to foster creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving. For most roles, a minimum of 4 days on-site per week is required, with flexibility as needed. Remote or field-based roles will have different arrangements indicated in the posting.
