Job Title : SIL Engineer – Second Shift (Systems Engineer – MineStar Fleet)
Location : Mossville, IL
Work Schedule : Onsite, 2nd Shift (12 PM – 10 PM, 4 days / week)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled SIL Engineer (Software-in-the-Loop Engineer) to support the development, testing, and performance of the MineStar Fleet Application , a critical platform enabling autonomous truck and staff vehicle operations within mining environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on systems engineer with strong testing, debugging, and virtualization experience, combined with IT software skills.
You will work in a scalability lab environment closely simulating real mining site conditions while supporting autonomous operations through Command for Hauling.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain the MineStar Fleet Application for autonomous trucks and support vehicles.
- Facilitate autonomous operations using Command for Hauling and MineStar Fleet systems.
- Utilize fleet management systems to monitor site productivity, performance, and data flow.
- Conduct system and scalability testing within a controlled lab environment that replicates mining sites.
- Manage a dedicated server cluster using VMWare , including deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting virtual machines.
- Work with Windows Server OS, Linux , and onboard autonomy software to maintain system functionality.
- Perform upgrades and migrations, including transition to Windows Server 2022 .
- Operate within an isolated VLAN-segmented network , ensuring security and system integrity.
- Develop, execute, and maintain test plans for new features, updates, and system enhancements.
- Debug SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) systems and identify root causes for software or system issues.
Required Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, or related fields.Strong experience in SIL testing , debugging, and validation methodologies.Hands-on experience with VMWare and virtualization technologies.Proficiency with Python for scripting, automation, or test workflows.Solid understanding of IP networking , VLANs, and segmented environments.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required).Ability to work fully onsite during the designated shift.Preferred Skills
Experience working with autonomous systems or mining technologies.Exposure to Windows-to-Linux mixed environments.Knowledge of large-scale simulation environments.Work Environment
This role is 100% onsite and performed during the second shift (12 PM – 10 PM, four days a week) . You will be part of a specialized engineering group responsible for managing a large virtual machine infrastructure, advanced autonomous testing systems, and high-security networks within a dedicated facility.
