Our unit is an intermediate unit that is a step down from our transitional care but a step above med / surg as far as patient acuity Cardiac, Respiratory distress, Septic. Mainly serve cardiac patients, also acute respiratory (no vents / but high flow ) 02 needs / new bipap, etc. then mix of any other disease process in which the physicians determine patient is too sick for floor; but not yet ICU level of care.
