Overview

The Staff Accountant II role is a position that will fill a critical component in our Finance & Accounting team. This hands-on position provides many opportunities to develop your accounting and operational skills in a relatively flat department.

As a staff accountant you will be responsible for assisting with various accounting and financial tasks to ensure the accuracy integrity and compliance of financial records and reports. You will report to the Director of Accounting and work closely with the finance team and other departments to support day-to-day accounting. Opportunities to take on additional responsibilities within the accounting department are available given available time and success in the role.

Responsibilities

• Preparing journal entries analyses and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly and quarterly close processes
• Reconciling bank accounts
• Posting customer payments
• Serve as point of contact for customers on invoice disputes or account reconciliation
• Maintaining schedules (i.e. fixed assets AR aging AP aging)
• Use accounting software and systems to maintain financial records generate reports and streamline processes
• Develop knowledge of applicable accounting standards and future reporting ensuring on-going compliance with relevant standards and legislative requirements
• Monthly project level allocations
• Review open POs and work with the operations team to close out stale POs
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Location : The preferred location for this role is in Durham NC. Our team operates on a hybrid schedule with in-office schedule of three days per week.
