Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE : To manage clinical functions and provision of clinical services / programming for patients on the acute units.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Provides direction and maintains responsibility for the quality of programming offered on the assigned units, from a clinical, financial and safety standpoint. Works in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services. Responsible for assisting in maintaining effective milieu management.
• Supervises therapy staff, student interns and maintains responsibility for staff assignments and clinical coverage.
• Conducts performance evaluations of assigned pool and full-time staff.
• Ensures needs of physicians, referral sources and other community resources are met.
• In conjunction with Nurse Manager, takes leadership role in team meetings.
• Leads clinical staff meeting as needed.
• Takes leadership in ensuring patient staffings take place as per policy.
• Monitors Performance Improvement activities for clinical program indicators.
• Provides individual, family and group therapy as necessary, and documents per hospital policy.
• Provides and arranges necessary education for staff, and ensures clinical staff are current with mandatory training.
• Maintains good working relationships with other departments in the hospital.
• Ensures hospital policy and procedures are implemented.
• Ensures special treatment procedures, or any other restriction of rights, are in compliance with hospital policies and reflect in the patient's treatment plans as needed.
• Participates in processing grievances generated by patients, their guardians, staff or outside agencies.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES : Excellent written and verbal skills, strong assessment and interpersonal skills. Competency in individual, family and group psychotherapy. Familiarity with TDH standards and commitment process.

EDUCATION : Master's Degree

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION : LCSW, LMSW, LPC, or LPC-A

EXPERIENCE : Minimum 2 years post licensure experience working with psychiatric population. At least 1 year supervisory experience.
