Benefit Program Specialist III
This is a State Service position for a Benefit Program Specialist III with an agency in Hinds County, MS. The Mobile Operations Specialist is responsible for operating and maintaining "Winnie", the Mobile WIN Job Center, which delivers workforce and employment services at job fairs, community events, and other designated locations throughout the State of Mississippi. This position ensures the safe transportation, set-up, and operation of the mobile unit and provides logistical, technical, and administrative support to the Governor's Job Fair Network (GJFN). Will operate and maintain the Mobile WIN Job Center vehicle in compliance with MDES and State safety regulations. The mobile unit is a regular Ford 550 (11-foot 6-inch height, 8-foot 3-inches width, and 36-foot 6-inches length; It has an automatic transmission with a generator on it and a camera in the back to assist with backing the vehicle). Will drive "Winnie" to job fairs, outreach events, and other locations statewide as scheduled. Will coordinate and maintain the mobile unit's travel and event calendar in collaboration with GJFN staff. Will set-up and dismantle equipment, technology, and materials required for each event. Will perform basic technical setup of computers, networking, and related equipment to ensure mobile unit readiness. Will load, unload, and transport equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Will provide onsite assistance to employers, job seekers, and staff during events. Will support GJFN reporting, business outreach, and other program activities when not engaged in mobile unit travel. Will perform other duties as assigned. This position requires frequent travel within the State of Mississippi and involves both indoor and outdoor work environments. The employee may be exposed to various weather conditions and must be able to perform physical tasks associated with event setup and breakdown. All applicants are required to pass an extensive background check and have and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and regular driver's license.
Preferred qualities for this position include : Good interpersonal / customer service skills, good verbal / written communication skills, time management, and organizational skills. Must possess outstanding computer skills, including proficiency with internet-based applications and email. Must have a working knowledge of workforce or employment programs offered by MDES or similar agencies. Familiarity with basic computer networking, Wi-Fi setup, and troubleshooting. Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to interact effectively with the public, employers, and community partners.
