Non-Direct Patient Care And Non-Clinical Services
Will provide the non-direct patient care and non-clinical services necessary to maintain the professional quality and care of the patient. Will be actively involved in telecommunication between nursing and all departments involved in the care of the patient. Will appropriately support the nursing staff, physicians and ancillary departments. Will interact with patients, their families and guest in a caring patient and compassionate manner. Responsible for preparing, compiling and maintaining patient records on the hospital units. Effective and continuous monitoring and observation of cardioscope (if applicable).

Responsibilities
Continuously observe cardiac monitor : appropriate interaction, maintenance, utilization and documentation.
Read, interpret, and document continue basic and lethal arrhythmias and respond appropriately by notifying RN of significant rhythm changes.
Maintain good quality ECG signals at all times (monitor and strips).
Maintain monitoring equipment in functional condition; notify Biomed for repairs / problems as appropriate.
Assure ECG monitoring supplies are maintained at appropriate PAR levels.
Communicate information thoroughly and give concise report at change of shift.
Communicate appropriate information to Team Leaders, Manager, Director, etc. as appropriate.
Input data into the computer accurately.
Locate and retrieve data from the computer including laboratory, diagnostic imaging and other patient related information.
Report all results of diagnostic studies and lab values as soon as received to the appropriate RN.
Inform nursing staff of patient, family or physician needs / requests.
Transcribe physician orders including medications accurately, concisely and enter data into computer or MAR.
Check for and assure patients are properly identified (ID bands, addressograph, etc.) on admission / transfer and as required / requested.
Keep census accurately updated in the computer and on census log sheet.
Assemble patient charts, identify forms accurately, enter appropriate information and maintain an ongoing check for proper identification and dating of forms.
Check and order stationary supplies and nursing unit supplies at routine intervals and as needed (maintains adequate PAR levels).
Maintain a sufficient reserve (PAR) level of patient admission charts and charting forms.
Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, deaths, errands as required and / or directed.
Answer Nurse Call system within 3 minutes, notify appropriate staff member and follow-up with patient to assure needs are met in a timely manner.
Locate staff, supplies, etc. as needed by healthcare team members including physicians.
Initiate and follow through with requests for services to effect patient care, environmental cleanliness and safety.
Assist patients, visitors, staff without hesitation; if unable to respond to request, seek appropriate staff member capable of accommodating needs.
Initiate work orders, contacting Facilities Management as appropriate or requested.
Contact Environmental Services for unit cleaning needs and for bed / room cleaning post-discharge.
Keep Nurses' Station organized and neat at all times.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education / Training / Experience
High school graduate or equivalent
Basic arrhythmic certification
Medical terminology
General clerical and computer knowledge
Licenses / Certifications
MAB within 90 days of hire
