Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Senior CNC Machinist .
The Senior Machinist will lead complex setups, precision machining operations, and process optimization across our CNC equipment — including Akira Seiki, Haas , and similar platforms. You’ll be responsible for setting up, operating, and mentoring junior machinists, ensuring all parts meet tight tolerances and quality requirements.
This role requires a hands-on leader who takes initiative, understands efficient workflow, and can communicate effectively with engineering and programming teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex CNC setups and run production on milling and turning machines.
- Interpret blueprints, 3D CAD files, and GD&T drawings for precision machining.
- Edit and adjust G-code and M-code to optimize performance and quality.
- Train, guide, and support junior machinists on setup, tooling, and inspection.
- Inspect workpieces using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.).
- Recommend process improvements for tooling, fixtures, and cycle time reduction.
- Collaborate with engineering / programming to refine machining strategies.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work area.
Qualifications
5+ years CNC machining experience, including setups and operation.Deep knowledge of milling and turning (multi-axis or Swiss experience a plus).Familiarity with Akira Seiki, Haas , or similar machine controls.Proficiency in G-code editing ; Mastercam experience preferred.Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, feeds / speeds, and materials .Ability to mentor and teach junior team members.Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Experience in aerospace, medical device, robotics, or automotive industries preferred.Technical certification or associate degree in machining / manufacturing is a plus.
