About the Job :

The 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, Inc (100 BMGC). is a premier African American mentoring organization committed to improving the quality of life within our communities and enhancing educational and economic opportunities for all African Americans. Our mission is carried out through the “Four for the Future” pillars : Mentoring, Education, Health & Wellness, and Economic Empowerment. Through mentoring programs, youth development initiatives, and community partnerships, we strive to make a lasting impact on the next generation of leaders in the Greater Cleveland area. This hybrid, part-time (20-hour per week) position will help the organization manage the day-to-day operations by providing general administrative support, event support, database management, and advocating for the organization’s mission.

Organizational Purpose :

The purpose of the 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland is to implement a strategy of Health & Wellness, Economic Empowerment, Education and most important Mentoring within Cleveland’s African American community. We focus on Cleveland’s youth through the execution of our programs.

Status : Non-exempt position, 20 hours per week.

Schedule : Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed to support and attend events. This position has some flexibility in scheduling, and the ideal candidate has the opportunity to work a hybrid / onsite schedule.

Reports to : Organizational Chairman.

Essential Functions :

  • Administrative Support :

This position is responsible for providing general administrative support as needed, including but not limited to :

Act as a gatekeeper for scheduling and maintaining the calendar for the 100 BMGC.

  • Purchase supplies, marketing materials, snacks, meals and other consumables as needed.
  • Storage and retrieval from the long-term storage areas.
  • Coordinate volunteer activities as it relates to recruitment, coordination and communication activities.
  • Prepare for Board of Directors meetings by printing agendas, minutes, and other documents.
  • Maintain organizational files and documents.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the organization (e.g. information requests, parent / student inquiries logistical questions).
  • Manage donor database.
  • Manage repair and maintenance of office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.
  • Perform general administrative support.
  • Special Events :
  • Coordinate 100 BMGC tabling at community / civic events.

  • Assist with scheduling tours and field trips.
  • Assist with coordination of event logistics.
  • Fundraising events, in person or virtual.
  • Communications :
  • Assist with the production of newsletters.

  • Monitor and assist with social media posts.
  • Assist with donor communications, including appeal and thank you letters.
  • Communicate with students, parents and members regarding meetings, events, important information, etc.
  • Maintain organizational archives.
  • Take on additional tasks as directed by the Chair and Vice Chair.
  • Qualifications :

  • Minimum two years’ related experience; nonprofit experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work as a team member with minimal supervision.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills and excellent phone manners.
  • Ability to develop effective work plans, organize details, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot standard office equipment.
  • Commitment to the 100 BMGC mission is helpful.
