Key responsibilities include managing all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clients. You will also gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents, and interview clients and witnesses, as well as drafting summaries of their statements and maintaining communication records.
Education requirements include a Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the California State Bar. Minimum requirements include successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, strong time management skills, the ability to organize case files, manage legal documents, and understand the discovery process, skilled communication with clients, and a well-versed understanding of legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct. Must be commutable distance to courthouses throughout California.
