Overview

The Mohave County Public Works Department - Engineering Division is looking to hire an Engineering Manager in Kingman, Arizona.

We are located at 3715 Sunshine Dr., Kingman, AZ.

Mohave County Public Works operates 2,100 miles of roads, and over the past 10 years, Public Works has constructed over 25 miles of roads and over $20 million in road, bridge, and traffic safety improvements.

Public Works touts a modern office building designed for Public Works operations including in-house traffic sign shop, materials laboratory, and traffic management center.

Engineering Manager - Salary Range 26 Steps 1-17 $39.79 - $63.84 / hr

Work will be both office and field environments. Occasional travel to assist crews in other areas of Mohave County. County will cover room costs and per diem if overnight stays are required.

Must be licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer and be registered in the State of Arizona within six (6) months of appointment to the position, except under Facilities and Road Maintenance and Operations areas of responsibility where professional registration in the State of Arizona represents a preference.

Must be able to travel throughout different county locations. Working conditions would include but not limited to :

• Work outdoors performing moderate to strenuous manual labor in varying weather conditions, including strong winds, extreme heat to extreme cold temperatures.
• Travel will be mostly within Mohave County with travel to additional outlying county locations as needed, including Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, Northern Arizona Strip, and other areas including attending required training or meetings, while operating a Mohave County provided vehicle.
• Work requires traveling throughout the county while operating a county vehicle in adverse traffic conditions, weather, terrain, and altitudes.
• Exposure to exhaust fumes, chemical fumes, acid, oil, grease, hazardous materials, and loud noises from equipment.
• This position requires an equal amount of time spent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, climbing ladders, and confined spaces.
• The ability to frequently lift 25lbs up to 75lbs or more while operating heavy equipment.
• Prepares work schedules and assignments; supervises the activities of assigned personnel; monitors reports and record keeping activities filed by assigned personnel for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to policy and procedure guidelines; issues written and oral instructions; instructs personnel in departmental policies, procedures and techniques, and provides training.
• Completes performance plans and evaluations; recommends disciplinary actions; approves vacations and time off; may make hiring recommendations.
• Assists in developing and preparing Department and division goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Represents the Public Works Director in dealings with other governmental jurisdictions, COGs and MPOs, other County Departments and Divisions, the general public, contractors and consulting engineers regarding transportation, civil infrastructure systems and right-of-way planning, development, and operation.
• Attends meetings and conferences.
