Description

Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations, follows standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non- routine work may be reviewed in progress. Performs a variety of complex technical functions in support of engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electronic and electro-mechanical systems as well as experimental design circuitry, prototype models, and / or specialized test equipment. Establishes procedures for the maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities.

Following specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment

• Conducting a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors
• Extracting engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form
• Assisting engineering staff members in design, fabrication, integration and testing of electronic circuits and mechanical packaging, including the building prototype / custom cloud servers
• Performing detailed design tasks requiring the application of CAD equipment; designs projects such as simulation, printed circuit boards, and electronic and electrical assemblies
• Performing on-site installation, troubleshooting, and testing of company products and equipment
• Assists in establishing quantitative measurements and techniques for measuring hardware quality
• Establishes test standards and methods and conducts hardware test
• Reviews and evaluates products and services for adherence to government directives, standards, and guidelines concerning quality assurance
