Adelphi is seeking a Staff Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services at a state-operated mental health facility in Missouri. The psychiatrist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, managing long-term inpatient caseloads, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, recovery-oriented care. Knowledge of long-term psychiatric treatment, psychopharmacology, and behavioral interventions. Familiarity with legal patient classifications including NGRI, VBG, PIST, and SVP status. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary professionals, including psychology, nursing, social work, pharmacy, and medical staff. Ability to conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, conditional / unconditional release assessments, and court-related documentation. Responsibilities : Manage a long-term inpatient caseload of approximately 40 patients across two wards, providing monthly and as-needed psychiatric evaluations. Diagnose and treat serious mental illnesses, including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, mood disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and paraphilic disorders. Develop individualized treatment plans involving medication management, psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, and specialty referrals. Admit and discharge patients and complete all required documentation, including monthly summaries, annual evaluations, and admission / discharge assessments. Participate in weekly multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and collaborate in ongoing treatment planning and case consultations. Supervise Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners as credentialed and support coordination of psychiatric services. Serve as Psychiatric Officer of the Day (OD) 24 times per week during daytime shifts. Optional : Provide on-call coverage for additional compensation; routine on-call, weekends, and holidays are not required. Attend medical staff meetings and prepare evaluations for guardianship, conditional / unconditional release, and court testimony as needed. If credentialed, provide individual, group, family, or substance-abuse psychotherapy and participate in behavioral therapy programming and clinical oversight.
