Job Summary (Essential Functions)
This position is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and restoration of teak wood surfaces and general facility maintenance. Duties include sanding, sealing, and varnishing teak; performing preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. The role requires strong attention to detail, hands-on technical ability, and knowledge of facility maintenance procedures.
Job Tasks / Duties
- Maintains and makes general repairs to the plumbing fixtures, furniture, woodwork, electrical systems, appliances, ventilation systems and building structures of the club.
- Repairs, sands, and refinishes teak furniture (tables, chairs, loungers, beach chairs, and railings, etc.) to keep items in pristine condition.
- Inspect all teak furniture on a monthly schedule to determine work that is needed; maintain records of all teak furniture schedules (last refinish date, repairs mad, etc.)
- Number and tag all furniture for scheduled maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain boardwalk area, including replace boards and treat wood with sealer.
- Maintains equipment of the club property.
- Maintains the filtration and chlorination of swimming pool, tests swimming pool water; and maintains daily log of water test results for local health department inspections.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance (PM) required by club's PM procedures.
- Installs tile, drywall; makes grouting repairs, patches walls and paves brick.
- Assists other maintenance staff with repairs to locks, plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets, minor carpentry work, etc.
- Monitors work done by outside contractors and communicates the status of each project to the Director of Facility Maintenance.
- Visually inspects rooms, public spaces and back of the house areas to replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, etc.
- Ensures that all building maintenance, repair, and cleaning activities are identified.
- Ensures that all refuse is properly removed from the clubhouse and its premises.
- Responds to emergencies at any time.
- Assists with preparation of special functions, parties, tournaments, etc., by installing decorations and constructing display pieces.
- Keeps the workshop areas safe and clean.
- Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Director of Facility Maintenance.
Education and / or Experience
High School education or G.E.D Equivalent preferredPost-secondary vocational / technical training in electrical engineering, HVAC or refrigeration preferred.Valid Florida driver's license.Two years or more of maintenance experience in an institutional or business setting.Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
Basic knowledge of trades to understand repair problems and make minor repairs on outlets, lamps, and plumbing fixtures.Ability to use power tools drills, pneumatic sanders and saws.Knowledge of use of marine epoxy for repairs.Ensures a highly efficient safety program with an emphasis on awareness, discipline and compliance; implements an overall safety program that conforms to OSHA standards.Wood floor maintenance and installation of floor tiles.Knowledge about maintaining, cleaning, and preserving a wide variety of surfaces.Follows instruction regarding the use of chemicals and suppliesKnowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.Working knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting.Be cheerful and courteous.Reports major repairs to supervisor for correction.Working Conditions and Physical Requirements :
Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and chemicals.Occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform strenuous work lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping and climbing.Use ladders up to 32 feet.Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
