BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :
Performs a variety of duties oriented towards the preventative maintenance of light, medium and heavy fleet apparatus as well as maintenance on small equipment. This position performs Lube, Oil, and Filter services, preventive maintenance inspections, field tire removal and replacement, brake system inspections and delivers apparatus to repair shops and various UFA locations

Performs lube, oil, filter services and minor vehicle maintenance as directed, on vehicles ranging from ATV's, light fleet to heavy fire apparatusMaintain clean work area, tools, and assigned vehiclesPerform preventative maintenance inspections on heavy, medium, Light fleet apparatus, and mechanical equipmentEstablishes apparatus / vehicle service schedule and communicates schedule to Fleet Data AdministratorWorks with the Fleet Data Administrator to ensure accuracy of records
Ensures accuracy entering data into fleet management software including creating work orders, tracking repairs and inventory controlEnsures the accuracy of inventory in UFA warehouseCompletes DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections on fleet vehicles and apparatusDrains the oil from a vehicle and refilling it to manufacturer specificationsReplacing air, fuel, and oil filters as required during the service processLubricating moving parts as necessary, including those in the engine, and wheel bearingsLubricating all chassis grease fittings including steering, drivelines, and rear suspensionTopping off other fluids, including brake, power steering and windshield wiper fluidInspecting the engine block and underbody for leaks and potential issuesChecking tire condition, and air pressure adjusting tire pressure to manufacture specificationsInstalling new parts, such as windshield wipers, and batteriesInspecting and replacing cabin air filters as neededChecking brake system and replace worn components as instructedPerforms tire removal and replacement when needed or as instructedCheck exhaust system for leaksCheck condition of engine belts and hoses to identify possible failuresDrives many types of fleet vehicles with both manual and automatic transmissions in a safe and responsible manner.Utilizes different size / type hitches and safely tows various size and types of trailers.Secures various types of cargo loads legally before driving vehicles.Picks up and delivers apparatus to / from repair shops, fire station and logisticsPicks up and deliver parts or accessories from vendors or other locations as assignedMay respond to emergency scenes to provide necessary fleet / logistical support following established emergency protocols and UFA policiesAttends assigned training courses and classesPerforms other duties of a similar natureTYPICAL DECISIONS :

Work is performed in shop, fire station bay or in a field service setting. Can be exposed to varying weather conditions. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, routine hours; however, after hours and weekend work is possible. Work activities vary widely including fleet maintenance, field, and classroom training, attending meetings and frequent driving both light and heavy apparatus. Work may include infrequent response to emergencies.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential job functions satisfactorily. Incumbents may be subjected to dusts, gases, poor ventilation, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel. This position also requires the ability to bend, kneel and stand for extended periods of time and to possess dexterity of hands and arms in order to perform job duties.
