Fully Remote Outpatient Coder II – Nuvance Health

Location : Remote – Must reside in one of the following states :

AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, or VA

Salary Range : $26.48 – $50.49 per hour

Position Summary

Nuvance Health is seeking an experienced Outpatient Coder II to join our growing remote medical coding team . In this role, you will accurately code and abstract outpatient medical records for reimbursement, compliance, and statistical purposes. This position is ideal for a certified professional coder who thrives in a collaborative, fully remote environment while maintaining high standards of coding accuracy and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Review, assign, and validate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for outpatient records according to official coding guidelines.

Code outpatient medical records timely and accurately following Nuvance Health policies.

Initiate queries to providers when documentation is incomplete, ambiguous, or conflicting to ensure coding accuracy.

Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and payer-specific regulations .

Maintain a minimum accuracy rate of 95% for ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Participate in quality improvement, compliance reviews, and audit processes .

Stay current with AHIMA / AAPC coding updates, webinars, and continuing education .

Collaborate with peers and leadership to improve workflow efficiency and coding accuracy.

Qualifications

Certification required : CPC, CPC-H, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT , or specialty coding certification.

Minimum of 2+ years of production coding experience in outpatient or multispecialty settings.

Experience in critical care, E / M, and trauma coding required.

Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and EHR / coding software.

Excellent attention to detail, communication, and analytical skills.

Must reside in one of the approved states listed above.
