Description :

SLP for PK-8, 37.5 hours per week.

Prevention SLPs are integrally involved in efforts to prevent academic failure through initiatives such as Response to Intervention (RTI).

SLPs use evidence-based practice (EBP) in prevention approaches.

Assessment SLPs conduct assessments in collaboration with others to identify students with communication disorders.

These assessments inform instruction and intervention in accordance with EBP.

Intervention SLPs provide age-appropriate intervention based on the individual learning needs of students.

Interventions are selected through an evidence-based decision-making process.

Service delivery models in the school setting are diverse, and therapy techniques are clinical for students with disabilities.

SLPs are responsible for designing schoolwide programs that utilize various service delivery models in the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities.

SLPs may also provide services to other students as appropriate.

Data collection and analysis are essential responsibilities, as SLPs must be accountable for student outcomes.

This includes gathering and interpreting data for individual students and conducting overall program evaluations.

Compliance with federal and state mandates, as well as local policies, is crucial in the performance of duties.

Activities may include the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), report writing, and treatment plan development.
