Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Plumbing Designer to lead the design and coordination of plumbing and mechanical systems across a variety of building types, including civic, education, transportation, and commercial projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design process from concept through construction documents
- Develop plumbing system layouts using Revit and AutoCAD
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and energy analysis
- Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, and civil engineers
- Review and mark up shop drawings and submittals
- Mentor junior designers and engineers
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and sustainability goals
- Participate in client meetings and presentations as needed
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field8+ years of experience in mechanical design for buildingsProficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP)Strong knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and LEED principlesExcellent communication and coordination skillsPE license preferred, but not requiredPreferred Qualifications

8+ years of experience managing plumbing design projects from schematic design through construction.Experience in relevant markets such as education, civic, workplace, or institutional.Proven ability to lead or contribute to multi-disciplinary teams in a collaborative studio environment.Technical Expertise
Deep knowledge of plumbing codes and standards (IPC, UPC, NFPA, ASPE).Familiarity with sustainable plumbing design (LEED, WELL, water conservation strategies).Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and plumbing-specific tools (e.g., HASS, Pipe Flow Expert).Strong understanding of MEP coordination and technical documentation.Leadership & Collaboration
Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead engineering staff.Strong project management skills : budgeting, scheduling, task management, and quality control.Collaborative mindset with clients, consultants, and internal teams.Communication
