Hybrid : Onsite 3 days per 2 wk period Travel : up to 20% for field and site locations, including some overnight travel Overtime : 10% anticipated Length : 1+ yrs, up to 5 years MUST be US Citizen to be eligible to apply for Federal Background Check SUMMARY This high-level contract Project Manager position provides expertise and hands-on assistance to the Transmission Project Management organization, which executes and delivers most of the client's Transmission Capital Projects. The position will manage the integration and execution of assigned Transmission capital projects, such as telecommunication projects along with Non-Electric Facilities, and Security expense / capital projects. This is an emerging area, with a focus on workload planning and integration in conjunction with the transmission capital project process. Note : Level 3 is typically responsible for medium-to large-sized projects (25M and higher cost). POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, initiate, and facilitate Transmission projects from inception to conclusion and in accordance with corporate and industry project management principles and standards. Coordinate activities for designated project(s) to verify that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Issue project status reports on a regular or as requested basis Identify and request resources and resolve resource allocation issues with business units and performance managers. Support the project team through the project management process; schedule and facilitate team meetings and coordinate activities of sub-teams. Participate in monthly group level project manager meetings. Support Transmission managers in planning and building new high voltage substations, and upgrading existing substations Actively engage with the business to properly understand the business needs, identify dependencies, project expectations, milestones, resources and other initiatives, and assist the manager in deploying the solution. Facilitate the implementation of the project daily regarding scope, budget, schedule, and quality. Provide updates and findings to the manager. Maintain consistent communication on the progress of the project versus the plan. Prepare, estimate, recommend, and monitor the budget for the project. Provide data to the manager for review and approval. Facilitate project requirements, milestones, and project expectations; and monitor the project schedule. Allocate time in the project plan for the project team to attend all recommended training. Take a proactive stance regarding risk management by alerting the manager to areas of risk. Alert the manager of any obstacles or work with the sponsor or performance managers REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience : A master's degree is preferred. 10 years of experience is required with an applicable bachelor's degree. 12 years of experience is required with bachelor's degree not in applicable fields. 14 years direct work experience is required with no Degree. Required Technical Skills & Experience 5 years of demonstrated project management experience Experience accurately assessing and estimating project costs. Experience writing and understanding functional and technical specifications Experience with developing project schedule timelines Experience with SharePoint Experience with Visio Experience with MS Project Preferred Skills & Experience PMI or PMP certification. Demonstrated proficiency with ArcMap or similar program Experience with electric utility industry data.
