Payroll Manager – Hospitality & Gaming Industry
Temecula, CA (On-site)
Full-Time | Direct Hire | $100,000–$110,000 annually
A premier resort and gaming enterprise in Temecula is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead all payroll operations for a large, 24 / 7 hospitality organization. This position oversees a team responsible for processing, compliance, and reporting for thousands of employees across multiple departments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep expertise in complex payroll environments, hospitality or gaming operations, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee bi-weekly and on-demand payroll for hourly, salaried, and tipped employees in a high-volume environment.
Manage, train, and mentor the payroll team; ensure effective cross-coverage and professional development.
Maintain compliance with federal and state wage, hour, and tax laws, including tip and service charge reporting under IRS TRDA agreements.
Establish, maintain, and improve payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Partner closely with HR, Finance, IT, and Operations to resolve payroll issues and maintain system accuracy.
Oversee accurate processing of tips, tokes, and service charges, ensuring compliance and accuracy in reporting.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors such as Equifax, 401(k) administrators, and ACH / check transmission providers.
Lead or support payroll system upgrades and related technical projects.
Handle confidential employee information with the utmost professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications :
Experience : 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
Industry Background : Experience in hospitality, gaming, or other large-scale, multi-shift organizations (4,000+ employees strongly preferred).
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Certifications : Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
Systems Knowledge :
Infor Cloudsuite, Workday, Oracle, or similar large-scale payroll platforms.
ADP Employment Tax and Garnishment Services.
Strong Excel and reporting / query skills required.
Technical Expertise :
Comprehensive understanding of payroll compliance, taxation, and wage laws.
Experience with TRDA agreements, F&B tip reporting, and payroll tax filings.
Familiarity with 3rd-party vendor integrations (Equifax, Triad / Navia, etc.).
Other Requirements : :
Must be able to qualify for a Class “A” gaming license.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
