The Finance team in the Department of Public Safety is looking for that motivated individual to fulfill anAccountant II or IIIposition in Pierre (with the level being determined by the experience and qualifications of the successful applicant). This position works with multiple programs within the department and accounts for multiple sources of funds. In this role, your duties would include :

• performing professional accounting work that requires the application of accounting and audit theories, concepts, principles, and standards to the financial activities of the State;
• managing financial activity for federal grants;
• initiating federal drawdowns for reimbursement of federal grant funds;
• compiling federal quarterly financial reports for grants;
• processing voucher payments and monitoring fiscal activities for multiple programs to ensure that funds are properly accounted for and allocated correctly;
• performing reconciliations;
• assisting with budget preparations;
• allocating indirect costs;
• assisting with subrecipient monitoring;
• assisting with annual financial reporting.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have :

A 4-year accounting degree with 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience is preferred to be considered for the Level III.

A 4-year accounting degree with 1-2 years of progressive accounting experience would be considered for the Level II.
